Co-Packing, Private Label, and Bulk: A Manufacturer's Guide
The difference between bulk supply, private label, and co-packing for standardized alkaloid tablets, and how to choose, from a US extraction lab.
If you are building a brand around standardized alkaloids, one of the first decisions is how you source the finished product. Three terms come up constantly, and they are not interchangeable: bulk supply, private label, and co-packing. Here is how they differ and how to think about the choice.
Bulk supply
Bulk means we supply the standardized product itself, tablets or material, in volume, and you handle packaging and branding downstream. It is the most flexible option and the right one when you have your own packaging line or a separate co-packer.
Private label
Private label means we produce a defined product to a standard spec and finish it under your brand. You get a consistent, repeatable product and label without operating a production line yourself. It is the fastest path to a shelf-ready SKU.
Co-packing
Co-packing (contract packing) means we manufacture and package to your program: your spec, your formats, your labels, lot-coded and tested every lot. It suits brands that want control over the specification while outsourcing the manufacturing and fill.
What to look for in a manufacturer
Whichever route you choose, the same fundamentals matter: domestic manufacturing, a solvent-free and DCM-free process, standardization to a defined alkaloid, third-party testing on every lot, and lot-coded traceability from finished unit back to raw material. Those are the things that make a product something you can specify and reorder with confidence.
We do all three, bulk, private label, and co-packing, for standardized speciociliatine and mitragynine tablets. Tell us your program and we will scope it.
